Can I purchase my car outright?

zeVie is a market place where our partners are currently offering the PCP purchase option.  PCP or Personal Contract Purchase is a purchase option whereby after an initial deposit, you pay monthly instalments over a specified period of time with the option at the end of the term to make a final payment and own the car, or to cease making payments and give the car back, or trade the car in against another one.  For full details on PCP, please call our helpline.

What's the difference between battery electric cars, plug-in hybrids and charging hybrids?

An electric car is a fully electric car, also known as a Battery Electric Vehicle (or BEV).  This uses just one power source to move the car – the battery – which is charged by being plugged into a public charger, a home charger or an ordinary socket at home.  A plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (or PHEV) has two sources of power – a battery which is charged in the same way as the battery on a fully electric vehicle and an internal combustion engine which runs on petrol or diesel.  A PHEV can run for 20-40 miles on electric power and will then use its internal combustion engine.  A self-charging (or soft) hybrid car has a petrol or diesel engine and a smaller battery.  In these cars energy from the engine or from braking is used to move the car via an electric motor at certain times, for example when it's accelerating or going very slowly.  A soft hybrid can run on electricity for just a couple of miles and cannot be charged at a socket.  Due to their superior environmental benefits, zeVie leases only fully electric and plug-in hybrid cars.
